Last year saw the acquisition of 97 homes, three sites with a capacity to generate 119 new flats and a property located at Via Laietana, 8-10, which will free up space for nearly 80 more homes. This combination of land and existing housing acquisitions will help strengthen the public housing stock in the short to mid-term, with nearly 300 new homes.

Notable operations include the purchase of the 26 homes in the Casa Orsola, as well as 11 flats in Passatge d’Alió and Carrer de València, Carrer de Llull and Carrer dels Garrofers. These acquisitions come in addition to the 38 homes purchased from the Building Center estate agent, belonging to CaixaBank, located in various neighbourhoods.

Regarding land, last month saw various operations completed such as the purchase from Sareb of the site at Carrer Escolapi Càncer, 19, in the neighbourhood of Torre Baró, for the construction of 81 flats. A site at Carrer Roc Boronat, 72, has also been acquired in the Poblenou neighbourhood, as well as another in Carrer Juan de Sada, in the Sants-Badal neighbourhood.

In the case of the acquisition from the Spanish state of the building at Via Laietana, 8-10, to turn it into a major administrative centre, this will free up other municipal premises in C/ Avinyó, C/ Ciutat and C/ Paradís to create up to 80 public homes in a pressured neighbourhood for housing.

The acquisitions come within the context of the Pla Viure, which opts to increase public housing by every means available, including new construction, the acquisition of existing flats and the transformation of buildings to ensure access to decent and affordable housing in the city.
